Emil Ludwig Feuchtmann Pérez (born June 1, 1983 in Punta Arenas ) is a Chilean handball player .

Life

Feuchtmann jr. was born in Chile as the son of Emil Feuchtmann, a sports teacher and founder of a handball school. Grandfather Friedrich Feuchtmann, born in Mannheim in 1898, emigrated to the Chilean port city of Valparaíso in 1930. Erwin Feuchtmann Pérez 'brothers Erwin and Harald as well as his sister Inga also play handball and are on the national team. The mother of the four siblings was also a handball player. Feuchtmann has been married to Maria Jose Valdes since July 11, 2009 and has a son named Leon, born in January 2014. Emil Ludwig Feuchtmann Perez completed a degree in marketing.

Athletic career

Feuchtmann gained his first experience in the student team of the Liceo de Hombres . This was followed by an appointment to the team of the Universidad de Chile. His father Emil Feuchtmann was the coach here.

An offer from Brazil enabled him to play the 2002 season in the São Paulo Guarulhos team.

Feuchtmann initially acted again as a player for the Spanish team from Huesca, but soon switched to third division club CB Puertollano . From 2004 to 2006 Feuchtmann played in the First Division of Group D at CB Petrer . This was followed by an offer from CB Huesca , where he trained under Juan Carlos Gordo. The change to CB Vinaros followed . In 2008 he was appointed to the Almoradi Mahersol team, which played in the Silver Division. Feuchtmann ended the season as the top scorer in the 2nd division.

In 2010 Feuchtmann moved to the Austrian SG Handball West Vienna . The season could be finished with the 8th place, in the cup tournament the quarter-finals could be reached. Feuchtmann scored 122 goals in 24 games. The following season he played together with his brother Erwin at HC Aschersleben .

In 2013 he switched to HSC Bad Neustadt . In his second season in Bad Neustadt he suffered an ankle injury.

Feuchtmann then moved to the Swiss club Wacker Thun and reached the runner-up in the first year. Feuchtmann celebrated his first title win the following season. From there he moved to the French Grand Nancy Métropole Handball in 2017 , where he plays Pro-Ligue (2nd division).

National team

In 1997 Feuchtmann already played in the junior national team and at the age of 16 took part in an international tournament in Santiago . With the senior team he made his debut in June 2000 in a friendly against the USA . With the national team he took part in the Pan American Championships from 2002 to 2012 and 2016 . The team won a bronze medal in 2010 and 2012 and a silver medal in 2016. In 2008 and 2010 he was the tournament's top scorer, and in 2010 he was also elected to the tournament's selection team.

He was also involved with the national team in the 2011 , 2013 and 2017 handball world championships .

In 2013 Feuchtmann withdrew from the national team due to differences with coach Fernando Capurro. After Mateo Garralda took over the team, he returned to the national team.

Feuchtmann is Chile's record national player and goal scorer. By 2019 he has made 120 appearances for his country and scored 314 goals.

Feuchtmann Group

The four siblings Emil, Harald, Inga and Erwin Feuchtmann opened a handball school for young people in Chile in 2013, and by the end of the year a complete team was able to take part in the competitions.

Awards and Achievements

In 1999 and 2004 Feuchtmann was elected handball player of the year in Chile. In 2017 he was inducted into the Swiss Handball Hall of Fame .
