Karin Weigelt (born April 30, 1984 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss politician and former national handball player .

Career

Weigelt initially played for the Swiss club LC Brühl Handball St. Gallen . With LC Brühl she won the Swiss championship in 2003 and 2007 and the Swiss Cup in 2003, 2004 and 2006. In summer 2007 she moved to the German Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen . After the left-hander became German runner-up in 2009, she joined Bundesliga promoted VfL Sindelfingen . A season later she signed a contract with Frisch Auf Göppingen . From the 2014/15 season she ran for the Norwegian first division club Vipers Kristiansand . In the 2016/17 season she was under contract with the French first division club HBC Celles-sur-Belle . She then returned to Frisch Auf Göppingen. After the 2017/18 season, she ended her career.

Karin Weigelt played 128 international matches for the Swiss team , in which she scored 400 goals.

Weigelt ran for the National Council elections in October 2019. Her father Peter Weigelt was also politically active.
