Ernst "Zulu" Züllig (born October 10, 1948 ) is a former Swiss handball player .

Career

Ernst Züllig began his career in the 1970s with HC Romanshorn in the National League B on the large field . During this time he not only played handball, but also worked in athletics at LC Brühl St. Gallen . In 1970 the powerful Züllig was able to win the Swiss championship title in the long jump with a width of 7.5 meters.

From Romanshorn , Züllig first moved to Zurich to the Grasshoppers Zurich and in 1975 finally to canton rivals Pfadi Winterthur in Eulachstadt . One of his greatest personal successes was his participation in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow , where the Swiss national team just finished eighth and achieved an Olympic diploma. In the same year Züllig was the top scorer in the National League A. In 1983/84 he helped scouts to get promoted back to the National League A after the team was relegated in the previous season. In 1985 Züllig was supposed to move to STV Winterthur , but since Pfadi Winterthur had too few players, the transfer was not carried out. Züllig ended his career two years later.

During his time, Züllig played a total of 176 international matches for the national team between 1971 and 1981, scoring 748 goals.
