Goran Perkovac (born September 16, 1962 in Slatina , at the time in the SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian handball coach and former handball player . He is married and has two children.

Career as a player in Switzerland

Goran Perkovac played for RK Medveščak Zagreb until 1989 . Then he moved to BSV Borba Luzern . With this club, the backcourt player won his very first championship in Switzerland in 1993. In 1996 he switched to TV Suhr for four and a half years , where he retired with two championship titles. His last stop was Pfadi Winterthur .

Goran Perkovac was also successful in the national team, he played in a total of 192 international games and won the gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics .

With 2,637 goals in 359 games Perkovac is the leader of eternal scorer in the National League A .

Career as a coach

Goran Perkovac began his coaching career at TV Suhr . In the 2001/2002 season he took over Pfadi Winterthur , in which he also won the Swiss championship title as a coach for the first time. In the following season he managed the double, these should have been the last successes with the Winterthur team, because Perkovac did not extend his contract. On October 17, 2003 he took over the coaching position of the eternal championship secret favorite Kadetten Schaffhausen from Wädi Müller and led the club first to the cup and won the first championship in the club's history in the following season.

In addition to his work in Schaffhausen, Goran Perkovac looked after the Greek national handball team . From 2008 to 2013 he was in charge of the Swiss national team. At the beginning of July 2013, the Swiss federation and Perkovac announced that the Croatian's contract, which was valid until 2014, would be terminated by mutual agreement at the end of July 2013. Then Perkovac signed a two-year contract with the German Bundesliga club GWD Minden . When the GWD Minden was relegated in February 2015, he was given leave of absence. In December 2015 Perkovac took over the coaching office of the Bundesliga club TuS N-Lübbecke . He has been coaching the Swiss club HC Kriens-Luzern since summer 2018 .
