Emir Kurtagic (born August 21, 1980 in Sarajevo ) is a German handball coach of Bosnian origin. He has been under contract with TuS N-Lübbecke since July 1, 2019 .

Career

In 2000, Emir Kurtagic came to VfL Gummersbach from TuS Derschlag together with his brother Sead Kurtagic (* 1977) and his father, handball trainer Esad Kurtagic . Emir has lived in the Gummersbach suburb of Derschlag since he was 14. Esad Kurtagic was initially assistant trainer in Gummersbach and from February 3 to May 2000 interim trainer of the Oberbergische. Emir played on left winger, his brother on right winger. At the end of the season, Esad and Emir Kurtagic left VfL and switched to the then regional league team TV Jahn Wahn for half a season . Due to a serious injury, Kurtagic had to end his career as a player early. At the age of 27, he completed the trainer course for the A license as the best in his year. For the 2008/09 season Emir Kurtagic was under Sead Hasanefendić assistant coach at VfL Gummersbach. After VfL had gotten to a relegation place, Hasanefendić was dismissed from the club's management on December 2, 2011 and Kurtagic was named as his successor. Kurtagic managed to stay up, but was only committed to the end of the season from the start. Jan Gorr from TV Hüttenberg should become the new coach of VfL Gummersbach in the 2012/13 season . Kurtagic was to become the sporting director of the VfL Academy in Gummersbach on July 1st, 2012. On June 1, 2012, VfL Gummersbach announced that Kurtagic will also coach VfL in the 2012/13 season. The contract with Gorr was terminated.

Kurtagic was sacked on March 26, 2017 after VfL had only won one of their last eleven games. On October 23, 2017, he succeeded Aðalsteinn Eyjólfsson at the newly promoted Bundesliga TV 05/07 Hüttenberg .

In February 2019 it was announced that Kurtagic will succeed Aaron Ziercke as coach of TuS N-Lübbecke for the 2019/20 season .
