Career

Sead Hasanefendić in a break for his team

Hasanefendić coached VfL Gummersbach until December 2, 2011 , with whom he was victorious three times in a European cup competition. At times he was the coach of the Serbian national team. Before that, he coached the Tunisian national team, and played a decisive role in their success. Because of these successes he is revered in Tunisia as Said Hassan Afendic . From March 15, 2013 until the end of the 2012/13 season Hasanefendić was a coach at the Bundesliga club GWD Minden . Hasanefendić was then again coach of the Tunisian national team, which he coached until January 2015. In March 2015 he took over the coaching office of the Bundesliga club TuS N-Lübbecke . In March 2017 Hasanefendić took over again as coach of VfL Gummersbach, which he coached until the end of the 2016/17 season. From 2017 he was supposed to be the coach of the Algerian national team , but no agreement was reached with the Fédération algérienne de handball. For the 2018/19 season he also took over the coaching position of the German third division ThSV Eisenach . In 2019, Eisenach was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga under his leadership. After the 2019/20 season, he left Eisenach.

World Cup game Germany - Switzerland 1982

The world championship game in Dortmund's Westfalenhalle between West Germany and Switzerland, which was then trained by Sead Hasanefendić, became legendary on March 4, 1982 . 22 seconds before the final whistle, Switzerland equalized to 16:16 despite being outnumbered. The German team had the ball in the last seconds of the game. When Erhard Wunderlich started the jump shot , it was clamped from behind. It was the Swiss player Peter Jehle who Hasanefendić pushed onto the field with the command “Come on, hold on!” - as the sixth field player. This prevented the victory of Vlado Stenzel's team and thus the game for the bronze medal. The irregularity was only noticed by a journalist the next day, but the protest of the German Handball Federation (DHB) came too late; it should have been submitted an hour after the final whistle at the latest. Hasanefendić was celebrated in Switzerland for his cleverness and presence of mind.
