RK Metaloplastika (full official name in Serbian : Рукометни клуб Металопластика, Rukometni Klub Metaloplastika ), also known as Metaloplastika Šabac , is a Serbian handball club from Šabac . The greatest success in the club's history was winning the European Cup in 1985 and 1986.
history
The club was founded in 1958 and won the Yugoslav Cup for the first time in 1980. By 1988 Metaloplastika won seven championship titles in a row. From 1983, 1984 and 1986 the club repeated the cup victory and won the double three times in four years. In 1986 this was expanded to a triple with the win of the European Cup . In 1985, the club won the European Cup for the first time. The core of the team was also the structure of the Yugoslav national team, which won the Olympic gold in 1984 and became world champion in 1986 .
Today the club plays in the first Serbian league, but is not one of the top teams. With Vukašin Rajković , a Metaloplastika player made the leap into the handball Bundesliga . He moved to Frisch Auf Göppingen in the 2005/06 season .
In the 2011/12 season Metaloplastika takes part in the supranational SEHA league , which was played for the first time . Since the Serbian clubs, unlike the clubs of the other participating countries, were not exempted from the national league, the team must complete a true marathon season with 30 games in Serbia and at least 22 games in the SEHA league.
