In the 1980/81 European Cup Winners' Cup , the young team made it to the semi-finals, but was still defeated by HC Empor Rostock . In 1983 he also failed in the semi-finals of CSKA Moscow in the European Cup . In 1984 he reached the final against Dukla Prague , but lost there in the seven-meter throw. In the following two seasons 1985 and 1986 he should dominate the competition with Šabac and win two titles. He later played for the French club OM Vitrolles , with whom he became French champions in 1994 and 1996 and cup winners in 1993 and 1995. In 1993 he also won another European Cup, the European Cup Winners' Cup .

With the Yugoslav junior selection, Slobodan Kuzmanovski was Junior World Champion in 1981. With the Yugoslav national team he won the gold medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He was used in six games but only scored two goals. He wasn't actually intended for the tournament, but an injury to the regular backcourt player Jovica Cvetković helped him to his luck.
