The US Créteil club (full name: Union Sportive de Créteil Lusitanos , before 2002: Union Sportive de Créteil ) is a French football club from the city of Créteil in the metropolitan region of Paris ( Val-de-Marne department ).
It was founded in 1936; In 2002 Créteil merged with the Lusitanos de Saint-Maur club and adopted its current name. Lusitanos de Saint-Maur was founded by Portuguese people who lived on the southern periphery of Paris. The club colors are blue and white; the league team plays at the Stade Dominique-Duvauchelle , which has a capacity of 12,150 seats.
The club's president is Armand Lopes.
League affiliation
The club has never played first-class ( Division 1 , renamed Ligue 1 since 2002 ) - it was only in 1999 that the board decided to introduce it to the professional sector. For the first time in Ligue 2 Créteil rose in 1999/2000 , where the club was able to hold until he was relegated back to the Championnat de France National at the end of the 2006/07 season. The promotion only succeeded in the 2013/14 season , but after three seasons Créteil rose again after the 2015/16 season . The recovery did not succeed, however, Créteil was knocked off bottom of the table in the National (D3) in the 2017/18 season and then played for one season in the Championnat de France Amateur . There, however, the team was able to secure promotion early in Group D and will thus play third-class again in the 2019/20 season.
