The Ligue 2 2019/20 (after the sponsor, Domino's Pizza , Domino's Ligue 2 ) was the 81st staging of the second highest French football league . It opened on July 26, 2019, and the last games took place on March 9, 2020. Due to an order from the state government, the season was declared prematurely ended at the end of April 2020 in view of the global COVID-19 pandemic .
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the LFP only announced in mid-March 2020 that all games would be played behind closed doors until at least April 15, but then finally stopped playing “until further notice”. At the end of April 2020, the association announced that it would finally end the season. Furthermore, the FC Lorient was declared national champion due to the highest point quotient and should rise together with the RC Lens . According to a decision by the FFF on May 27, the teams on the table positions 17 and 18 have to be relegated, as a planned increase to 22 participants for the following season was not approved.
