The Athletic Club Ajaccien (or l'ACA for short in France ) is a French football club from the Corsican capital Ajaccio . It was founded in 1910, the club colors are red and white; he has a bear as a symbol, and there is also a fan club that refers to this symbol in his name (L'Orsi Ribelli) . The club plays in the Stade François-Coty , which holds 10,446 spectators.

The club's president is currently Alain Orsoni; the league team was trained from July to November 2013 by Fabrizio Ravanelli , who announced the premature end of the contract after the 12th game. Christian Bracconi , head of the club youth center, then trained the league eleven at times. In November 2014, Olivier Pantaloni finally took over as coach.

League affiliation

The club has only been active in professional football since 1965, was first class from 1967–1973 (in Division 1 , now called Ligue 1 ), again in 2002–2006 and 2011–2014. Between 1974 and 1994, on the other hand, they only competed in the amateur field.

In view of the historical rivalry with the two other well-known clubs from the island, however, it was seen as a great triumph by the ACA supporters that the long-time Corsican number one, SC Bastia , was relegated to Ligue 2 in 2005 and the Ajacciens in the season 2005/06 played alone on the big stage. From 2006 to 2010 there was again - now in the second division - the ACA-SCB duel, then Bastia even relegated to the third division , while local rivals Gazélec FC Ajaccio played third class at best for a long time. In May 2011, the ACA managed to return to Ligue 1, and Bastia returned a year later. After the 2013/14 season, however, the club had to relegate to Ligue 2, while rival Gazélec FC Ajaccio was even first class in 2015.
