Dominique Baratelli

Dominique Baratelli (born October 26, 1947 in Nice ) is a former French football player .

Club career

The 1.77 m tall goalkeeper began his career at Cavigal Nice and then played for AC Ajaccio from 1967 to 1971 . His next stop was OGC Nice , for whom he played from 1971 to 1978 before moving to Paris Saint-Germain , where he ended his career in 1985. With Paris Saint-Germain he was able to win two French cups in 1982 and 1983 . In 1976 he was awarded the Étoile d'Or .

Baratelli has made a total of 593 appearances in the top French league and also scored two goals. This makes him the player with the third most appearances in the league to this day (April 2008) .

National player

Although he was relatively small for a goalkeeper, between June 1972 and April 1982 he made 21 appearances for France (19 of them during his time with Nice, 2 with Paris). He acted as a substitute goalkeeper in another 25 international matches, including the 1978 World Cup (substitute for Bertrand-Demanes in the 1: 2 match against Argentina ) and the 1982 World Cup .

After the end of his career he moved back to his homeland in the south of France, where he coached the US Cagnes-sur-Mer for a while and found a job as a sports educator, which he still practices.
