The Division 1 1999/2000 was the 62nd season of the highest French football league. The season began on July 30, 1999 with the opening game Girondins Bordeaux against SC Bastia (3-2) and ended on May 13, 2000.

As a climber came AS Saint-Etienne , CS Sedan and ES Troyes AC from Division 2 to do so. AS Monaco ended the season as champions and thus became the successor to Girondins Bordeaux. Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyon qualified for the UEFA Champions League . Girondins Bordeaux and FC Nantes Atlantique qualified for the UEFA Cup via the Coupe de France . In the UEFA Intertoto Cup the following year played AJ Auxerre . AS Nancy , AC Le Havre and HSC Montpellier had to relegate to Division 2 .
