Rosenborg BK won the Norwegian championship for the ninth time in a row. It was also the 15th championship for the team.
At the beginning of the season, the balance of power between the teams was still balanced. From the tenth matchday onwards, only Rosenborg was at the top of the table and expanded his lead to up to twelve points (20th matchday). With two defeats in a row, Viking came a little closer. But on the penultimate matchday Rosenborg secured the championship. Brann Bergen secured second place with a win in the last game.
Odd Grenland won the cup. It was the total of twelfth victory and the first after 1931. Of the promoted only Bryne FK could hold in the Tippeligaen . IK Start and FK Haugesund, however, had to relegate back to the 1st division.
