Viking Stavanger became Norwegian champion for the second time.
From the first to the last game day, Viking led the table. By the middle of the season, their lead was consistently four points. Towards the end, however, they lost this again except for one point. On the final day, a draw was enough for them to become champions because of the better goal difference against Fredrikstad FK .
Strømsgodset IF's 9-3 win over Fredrikstad FK is one of the top 3 highest -scoring encounters in Norwegian championship history.
Of the promoted FK Mjølner , Mjøndalen IF and Skeid Oslo only FK Mjølner had to relegate.
