Season course
Rosenborg BK won the Norwegian championship for the sixth time in a row. It was also the team’s twelfth championship. At the beginning of the season Brann Bergen and Strømsgodset played at the top. Rosenborg BK got off to a bad start. Three draws in four games. In addition, a 1: 2 defeat against Lillestrøm on matchday two put them seven points behind leaders Brann Bergen in 12th place. But then they didn't lose a game for the whole season. Nevertheless, they were eight points behind Strømsgodset in second place after the 10th match day. With 14 wins and two draws between matchdays 5 and 20 they were eight points ahead of the competition and already secured the championship prematurely after the 23rd matchday . Vålerenga IF won the cup competition from the 1st division for the second time after 1980. The newly promoted FK Haugesund and Sogndal IL were able to hold their own in the Tippeligaen . Only the third promoted Lyn Oslo had to relegate to the 1st division.
