Lillestrøm is a Norwegian city ​​with around 14,000 inhabitants, 18 kilometers east of the capital Oslo . It belonged to Akershus Province and Skedsmo Municipality until January 1, 2020 . Now it is in the new province of Viken and in the newly established municipality of Lillestrøm

It is home to the sports club Lillestrøm SK , whose first men's team plays in the second Norwegian football league OBOS-ligaen , and Akershus University .

The government organization for investigating accidents in the transport sector , the Statens Havarikommisjon for Transport ( SHT , Accident Investigation Board Norway ) is also based there.
