Erik Francisco Solér (born August 6, 1960 in Lillestrøm ) is a former Norwegian football player. After his professional career, he worked as a players agent and sports commentator . He is currently General Manager and Sports Director with the New York Red Bulls .

Club career

Solér started his career at Lillestrøm SK in 1979. There he was used the first time as a defensive midfielder. He later switched to the right defensive side. In 1984 he left the club and played for Eik-Tønsberg for a short time before moving to Hamburger SV . After a year and a half he turned his back on Germany and went back to Norway to Brann Bergen .

With his next station, the Danish team Aarhus GF , he won the Landspokalturneringen in 1988 . From 1989 to 1990 he played again for Lillestrøm SK and ended his career there.

National team

Solér made his first international match in 1982. He was on the pitch 39 times for the Norwegian national team . On July 28, 1988, he was for the last time for the Norwegians on the field, in a 1-1 draw against Brazil in Oslo.

After the playing career

After his playing days, he became one of Norway's most important players' agents in the late 1990s. Erik Mykland , Steffen Iversen and other national players from the time were his clients. From 2002 to 2008 he was a partner and president of the Norwegian football club IK Start. During this time, the team made it to the Tippeligaen and ended its first season in second place.

On November 25, 2009, Solér announced that he would be the next general manager and sports director of the US first division club New York Red Bulls. On December 7, 2009, this was confirmed by the Red Bulls. During his first year, he was a major contributor to the Eastern Conference winning and the team's significant improvements. During this time he signed players like Roy Miller , Joel Lindpere , Thierry Henry and Rafael Márquez .
