Steffen Iversen (born November 10, 1976 in Oslo ) is a former Norwegian football player . He is the son of the legendary Norwegian goal scorer Odd Iversen .

Club career

Steffen Iversen began his professional career at Rosenborg Trondheim in 1995 at the age of 18 . In the first two seasons he was able to celebrate winning the Tippeligaen . After these two seasons he left the club for England and hired the London club Tottenham Hotspur . Iversen played there between 1996 and 2003, but had constant strong competition such as B. Jürgen Klinsmann or Teddy Sheringham and was therefore not always used as a regular player. In the 2003/04 season he played for the Premier League promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers , but could not hold the class at the end of the season. He then moved back to his Norwegian homeland. First to the capital city club Vålerenga IF , with whom he celebrated the championship title in 2005, and then to Rosenborg Trondheim, where the same succeeded again in 2006 and 2009.

National team

Steffen Iversen was appointed to the Norwegian national soccer team after the 1998 soccer World Cup . On October 14, 1998, the striker made his debut in the game against Albania (final result 2-2) at the Ullevaal Stadium . Since then he has been a regular player and was part of the squad at the EM 2000 , where the Norwegians were eliminated in the preliminary round, but Iversen scored the 1-0 winning goal in the Norwegians' first victory against Spain and thus the only EM goal of the Norwegians to this day succeeded.
