Roy Miller Hernandéz (born November 24, 1984 in San José ) is a Costa Rican soccer player.

The defender was previously under contract with clubs in his home country, Norway , Sweden and the USA . He took part in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil with the Costa Rican national soccer team.

Miller began his career in 2001 with the Costa Rican first division club CS Cartaginés . After four years, he moved in 2005 to the Norwegian first division club FK Bodø / Glimt , with whom he was relegated to the second division in his first season . After two more seasons and the resurgence in 2007, the Norwegian record champions Rosenborg Trondheim signed him . In 2009 he was loaned to the Swedish first division club Örgryte IS , while Trondheim became Norwegian champions.

At the beginning of 2010, Miller moved to the US club New York Red Bulls . By 2015 he had played 125 league games for the Red Bulls and won the MLS Supporters' Shield in 2013 and 2015 .

After six years in New York, Miller moved back to his homeland in 2016 and signed a contract with CD Saprissa .

National team

Miller played for Costa Rica at the U-17 level. With the Costa Rican U-17 team , he took part in the 2001 World Cup.

He played his first games for the Costa Rican senior team in 2005. Despite his appearances in the qualifying round , he was not in the squad for the 2006 World Cup . Eight years later he was part of the team that made it to the quarter-finals of the 2014 World Cup , a great success. Miller was used in the group game against England .

He also won the Copa Centroamericana with his team in 2005 and 2014 .
