Postage stamp issues for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (SBZ)
After the end of the Second World War , East Germany (the area that would later become the German Democratic Republic ) came under Soviet administration . In five regions of the Soviet occupation zone , including Mecklenburg-West Pomerania , new postage stamps were issued from June 1945.
In the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania area, a total of 24 definitive stamps and 9 special postage stamps were issued between August 1945 and February 1946

- ↑ Date of issue / date on postage stamps: On October 21, 1945, a KPD memorial event for the »victims of fascism« took place in Neubrandenburg. On October 8, 1945, the Committee for the Victims of Fascism in Berlin published initial estimates of the number of those who had lost their lives to National Socialist crimes (around 20 million people).
