Postage stamp issues for the province of Saxony
After the end of the Second World War , East Germany (the area that would later become the German Democratic Republic ) came under Soviet administration . New postage stamps were issued from June 1945 in five regions of the Soviet occupation zone , including the province of Saxony .
In the province of Saxony, a total of 19 definitive stamps and 7 special postage stamps were issued between October 1945 and February 1946 .
The first name of the designer of the special stamps is currently (2012) unknown, in the Lipsia stamp catalog he is listed as Dipl.-Ing. Gebauer, referred to as Postbaurat Gebauer in the GDR universal catalog.
