The University Akershus (Norwegian: Høgskolen i Akershus - short HiAk -) was a state university in the Norwegian city Kjeller in the community Lillestrøm , Province Viken , formerly Akershus . It was one of 30 public, state universities and had around 3700 students and 280 employees (2006). With effect from August 1, 2011, it merged with Oslo University to form Oslo and Akershus University .

The university was headed by Jan Grund from April 2008 to August 2011. His predecessors from 2003 to 2007 were Lars Aukrust; before that Nina Tollefsen. The following four faculties previously existed:

  • Faculty of Social Pedagogy (Avdeling for atferdsvitenskap)
  • Faculty of Health, Nutrition and Management (Avdeling for helse, ernæring og ledelse)
  • Faculty of Product Design (Avdeling for product design)
  • Faculty for teaching profession (Avdeling for yrkesfaglærerutdanning)
