The Norsk Lærerakademi (also: NLA Høgskolen ) is a private, Christian-oriented teacher training college in Norway . It has three locations - Bergen , Oslo and Kristiansand - and is state- accredited . It is the only private university in Norway, a teacher training program offering. The study locations are divided according to subject, so that the educational offers take place in Bergen, the economic and musicological in Oslo and the media and journalistic in Kristiansand. The current rector is Erik Waaler.

The NLA was founded in Bergen in 1968 and was expanded on January 1, 2013 by purchasing two facilities at the other two locations. Currently (December 2018) it has around 2300 students (1570 female, 700 male) and around 218 employees ( FTEs , around 54% of whom are female). The largest courses are various elementary school teacher training courses with a total of 530 enrolled students and kindergarten educators (Bachelor) with 190 enrolled students. Around 100 students are enrolled in the pedagogical master’s courses . In addition, the university offers part-time courses and short courses (arsstudium) in various fields, such as journalism and business .
