The Gjøvik University of Applied Sciences (Norwegian: Høgskolen i Gjøvik ) - HiG for short - was a state university in the Norwegian city ​​of Gjøvik with around 3,000 students and 380 academic employees (2015). It was founded in 1994 through the merger of Gjøvik ingeniørhøgskole and Sykepleierhøgskolen i Oppland as part of the university reform . On 1 January 2016, the HiG together with who was college Sør-Trøndelag and Aalesund University College in the Scientific Technical University of Norway ( NTNU ) is integrated and is now considered NTNU Gjovik on.

Gjøvik University of Applied Sciences was divided into three (originally five) faculties:

  • Faculty of Computer Science and Media Technology (Avdeling for informatikk og medieteknikk)
  • Faculty of Technology, Economics and Management (Avdeling for teknologi, økonomi og ledelse)
  • Faculty of Health and Nursing (Avdeling for helse, omsorg og sykepleie)

In addition to bachelor's degrees, master’s degrees were offered in the following areas: information security (international program), media technology, health-promoting work.

In information security, Gjøvik had the largest working group in Norway. Research focus was on authentication, biometrics, network security, and the development of secure software. During the training there was a B.Sc. in information security (bachelor i informasjonssikkerhet), an M.Sc. in Information Security and a Ph.D. program in Information Security.
