The University in Ålesund (Norwegian: Høgskolen i Ålesund ) for short HiÅ - was a state university in the Norwegian city of Ålesund with around 2000 students and 200 academic employees. It was founded in 1994 in the course of the university reform through the merger of five state universities in Ålesund. On January 1, 2016, HiÅ was integrated into the Technical and Natural Sciences University of Norway ( NTNU ) together with the Sør-Trøndelag University of Applied Sciences and the University of Gjøvik and continues to exist today as NTNU in Ålesund .

The HiÅ was divided into five institutes:

  • Institute for Technology and Engineering (AIR)
  • Institute for International Marketing (AIM)
  • Institute for Medicine (AHF)
  • Institute for Biology (ABF)
  • Institute for Maritime Technology and Operation (AMO)
