The Volda University of Applied Sciences (Norwegian: Høgskulen i Volda ), HVO for short , is a state university in the Norwegian city of Volda with around 3,900 students and 300 employees (2013).

history

The Volda University was founded in 1994; Today it is divided into four departments: “Humanities and education”, “Social sciences and history”, “Art & physical education” and “Media and journalism”. Before that there was “Voldens høiere Almueskole” from 1861 and “Volda Lærarskule” from 1895 for teacher training.
