The Norwegian University of Agder ( Norwegian : Universitetet i Agder, UiA ) was founded on August 1, 1994 as Hochschule Agder (Norwegian: Høgskolen i Agder ). Since September 1, 2007 it has had its current name. It is the seventh university in Norway. Agder University has around 11,000 students and 1,000 employees. The university is located in Kristiansand and Grimstad .

The university currently offers around 175 programs, including around 35 Masters programs and 13 PhD programs. The University of Agder is internationally networked through around 200 agreements with universities worldwide on exchange programs for students and lecturers.
