Season course
At the beginning of the season, other teams led the table. The first games Aalesunds FK was at the top. However, everything stayed very close together. Up to the ninth matchday, Aalesund and the following Tromsø IL were never more than two points ahead of the other teams. Then Tromsø sat down to five points (11th matchday). Then Rosenborg started a winning streak: Rosenborg won ten of the next 11 games, with one draw. As a result, they took over the championship lead on the 14th matchday and after the 22nd matchday they had the maximum advantage of 9 points over pursuer Vålerenga Fotball for the first time. The team from the capital also played very successfully and was able to ensure participation in the Europa League after the 26th matchday . Tromsø IL finally finished 3rd and will also play internationally next season. It is curious that the first three places in the table from the 16th to the 30th matchday were always taken by the same teams.
Even in the relegation battle, the rankings of the last three teams remained the same after the 23rd matchday until the end of the season. Promoted Hønefoss BK secured the relegation rank. Co-promoted Kongsvinger IL had to relegate to the Adeccoligaen after only one year . Sandefjord Fotball was relegated with four games to go .
