The Hovedserien 1951/52 was the eighth season of the highest Norwegian football league and the fourth season under the name Hovedserien . The season began on July 29, 1951 and ended with the final on June 22, 1952.

The 16 teams played against each other in two groups, each with eight teams, in a simple game round with a return game, so that each team played 14 games. The two last placed had to be relegated.

The champion was determined in a final game between the two group winners. Compared to the previous season, some of the groups have been redistributed.

season

Fredrikstad FK became Norwegian champions for the second time in a row. Overall, it was the fifth championship title.

FK Kvik and SK Snøgg had to relegate from the promoters .
