Season course
Since the 3rd matchday Rosenborg BK was at the top of the league. Only on matchday 9 they had to give up the championship lead to the reigning champions Lillestrøm SK . The team won the title with a clear 6-0 win against their direct rivals Kongsvinger IL on the last day of the match. For Rosenborg it was the seventh championship title. At the same time, it was the beginning of a 13-year league dominance in which Rosenborg won all championship titles.
Rosenborg also won the cup competition that year and thus secured the double. From the climbers Hamarkameratene could reach the tenth place and secured the league in the relegation. Mjøndalen IF, however, had to relegate back to the 1st division after only one season.
