The 1. Divisjon 1971 was the 27th season of the highest Norwegian football league and the ninth season under the name 1. Divisjon . The season began on April 25, 1971 and ended on October 17, 1971.

mode

The 10 teams played against each other in a simple game round with a return game, so that each team played 18 games. Champion was the leader after the last match day. Since the league was expanded to 12 in the next season, only the bottom of the table had to be relegated.

season

Rosenborg Trondheim became Norwegian champions for the third time. They also won the trophy for the third time, making it the double for the first time.

The season was very balanced. Neither team could break away. Most of the time, Viking Stavanger led the table, but often only because of the better goal difference. Even at the end of the season, the first six teams were only three points apart.

Of the newcomers, only Frigg Oslo had to relegate.
