The 1. Divisjon 1970 was the 26th season of the highest Norwegian football league and the eighth season under the name 1. Divisjon . The season began on April 27, 1970 and ended on October 18, 1970.

mode

The 10 teams played against each other in a simple game round with a return game, so that each team played 18 games. Champion was the leader after the last match day. The last two teams had to be relegated.

season

Strømsgodset IF became Norwegian champions for the first time. With the second cup victory after the previous year they reached the double as the third team in history after Fredrikstad FK (1939 and 1951) and SFK Lyn (1968).

The season was very balanced. The championship was only decided on the last two match days. First Strømsgodset won against the previously leading team from Rosenborg Trondheim and sat in front of them. However, Hamarkameratene led before the last match day due to the better goal difference in front of Strømsgodset. On the last day of the match, Rosenborg won against Hamarkameratene, making Strømsgodset, who won his last game, the new champion. Rosenborg also took second place with this win and took part in the UEFA Cup . Interesting is the fact that Rosenborg only scored 15 goals in 18 games throughout the season, winning ten games. It is equally curious that they only got five goals and lost four games.

Of the newcomers only IF Pors had to relegate.
