European Champion Clubs' Cup 1971/72

The 1971/72 UEFA Cup was the 1st edition of this competition, in which 64 club teams took part, and was won by Tottenham Hotspur in an all-English final against Wolverhampton Wanderers . The UEFA Cup was the successor to the Messestädte Cup .

The competition was played in six rounds in two legs. In the event of a tie, the number of goals scored away decided first, followed by overtime and, if necessary, a penalty shoot-out.
