Club history
Founded in 1945, the club reached the first division in just three years, and has since played either here or in the second Czechoslovak or Czech division. In 1996 the club returned to the first division after a long absence and won the Czech Cup in 1977, 2003 and 2009. In the UEFA Cup , Teplice beat teams like Feyenoord Rotterdam , 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Celtic Glasgow .
The greatest success in the club's history so far was the 2nd place in the 1998/99 season, which qualified for participation in the Champions League . In the third qualifying round they drew the shorter one against Borussia Dortmund twice 0: 1.
In the 2004/05 season, the club finished 3rd and qualified for the UEFA Cup . In the second qualifying round they met FC MTZ-Ripo Minsk, the first leg in the Belarusian capital ended 1: 1. The second leg began according to the expectations of the Czechs, Emil Rilke took the lead in the 55th minute (1: 0), but in the 70th minute the surprising equalizer by Mkhitaryan (1: 1). It all looked like 30 minutes of extra time, but Teplice scored the required goal before the final whistle of regular time, it was Jiri Masek in the 92nd minute. In the first main round, Espanyol Barcelona proved to be too difficult an opponent. With a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Teplice one could be quite satisfied. The 1-0 win by Jirsák fell after the restart in the 48th minute, but the 1-1 draw by Luis García (82nd) broke the greatest dreams. The second leg was lost 2-0 and they were eliminated in the first round of the UEFA Cup.
In the 2005/2006 season, the team from Teplice only achieved 4th place and thus made it into the UEFA Intertoto Cup . They made an inglorious record this season, it was the team in the Gambrinus League with the most draws (16 draws in 30 season games). For a long time they were second, but after the Teplice-Elf lost their form, the future champions FC Slovan Liberec pulled up and away, but the teams FK Mladá Boleslav and SK Slavia Praha also took the opportunity to pass.
The UEFA Intertoto Cup was waiting for Teplice in the summer of 2006 , where Grasshopper Club Zurich was played in the second round . The Czechs lost the first leg at Letzigrund ( FC Zurich stadium ) 2-0 and the second leg at the Na Stínadlech stadium 2-0. In 2008, FK Teplice will play again in the Intertoto Cup. In the second round of the competition, the team met Honvéd Budapest . The Czechs lost the first leg in front of their own audience with 1: 3. The Czechs won the second leg 2-0, but were eliminated due to the away goals rule.
The club has been taking part in the Future Team tournament since 2015.
