Antonín Rýgr (born August 15, 1921 in Kročehlavy , † March 28, 1989 ) was a Czech football player and coach .
Club career
Antonín Rýgr began playing football with Admira VIII Prague , at the age of 20 the striker moved to SK Kladno . After only one season Rýgr went to SK Olomouc ASO , but returned to Kladno after a year and a half . In the post-war years, Rýgr was one of the best strikers in the league. Before he returned to his former youth club Admira VIII for a season in 1949 , he had scored 75 first division goals for SK Kladno.
In 1950 Rýgr moved to Sparta Prague , where he became Czechoslovakian champions in 1952 and 1954 . Since 1953 Rýgr was not only a player, but also a coach . After the 1954 season, Antonín Rýgr ended his career. In the top division he had scored 148 goals, so he is a member of the club ligových kanonýrů . For SK Kladno he scored 280 goals in 246 league, cup and friendly matches.
National team
Antonín Rýgr played two international matches for the Czechoslovak national team . On May 23, 1948, the team lost to Hungary in Budapest with 1: 2, on July 4 they were defeated by Romania in Bucharest with the same result.
Coaching career
Antonín Rýgr began in 1953 as a player- coach at Sparta Prague, where he worked until 1956. He then moved to the biggest rival Slavia Prague , where he worked with several interruptions until 1963.
In 1966 he took over Sklo Union Teplice , which he initially looked after for four years. In 1970 he returned to Slavia and was chief coach for two years. For the 1973/74 season he again took over Sklo Union Teplice, with whom he won the Czech Cup in 1977 . In the 1977/78 season he was once again a coach at Sparta Prague.
From 1954 to 1970 Antonín Rýgr was a total of four times (1954–1955, 1956, 1956–1957 and 1970) in 24 games coach of the Czechoslovak national team.
