Club ligových kanonýrů

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The club ligových kanonýrů (German roughly: Club of goal scorers ) is a club founded by the Czech sports magazine Gól , which includes Czech and Czechoslovak football players who have scored at least one hundred first division goals. Foreign players who have scored at least 100 first division goals in the Czech Republic are also accepted into the club. Membership is considered extremely prestigious in the Czech Republic. The club had 72 members at the end of 2016.

history

The club was founded in 1972 from an idea of the Gól editor Luboš Jeřábek, who gave a similar club in the Soviet Union as a model , led by Grigori Fedotow . Initially, the club was limited to the Czechoslovak League, which saw its premiere in the 1925-26 season. Goals in the period between 1939 and 1944, when a league competition was held in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia as well as in Slovakia , were therefore not taken into account . Goals abroad were also not counted.

In 1972, the club consisted of 22 founding members, top scorer and member number one was with 218 gates Josef Bican . Two players, Josef Kadraba and Adolf Scherer , were not included on the list during the communist regime because they had emigrated. The admission criteria have changed significantly over the years. From January 1, 1991 goals scored in other European countries are also recognized. The editors were forced to make this change due to the fact that the best Czechoslovak players moved abroad. After the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, the goals from 1939 to 1944 were also counted, which, for example, increased Bican's account by 229 to a total of 447 hits.

Another rule change occurred on November 22, 2016. Eligible are players:

  • with Czech citizenship who have scored at least 100 first division goals, be it in the Czech Republic, Czechoslovakia or abroad,
  • with Czechoslovak citizenship (before 1993) who have scored at least 100 first division goals, be it in the Czech Republic, Czechoslovakia or abroad. The condition is that the majority of these goals were scored in the Czechoslovak or Czech league or that the player in question has at least one start in the Czechoslovak national team,
  • with a nationality other than Czech or Czechoslovakia who have scored at least 100 first division goals, be it in the Czech Republic or Czechoslovakia.

Each member receives a badge of honor from the Gól editorial team. The magazine also hosts soccer games between members and journalists.

There are many anecdotes associated with the club, the most famous of which is probably that of the Pilsen player Stanislav Štrunc , whose 99th and 100th goal were almost 15 months. When Štrunc finally scored against Inter Bratislava in May 1977 , not only his teammates congratulated him, but also the referees and the entire Inter team, which caused the game to be interrupted for several minutes.

The only foreign player is the Belgian Raymond Braine , who scored 120 goals for Sparta Prague between 1930 and 1936 .

Counting the goals

Until November 2016, goals were counted abroad, but only in Europe. Czech players, for example in the US Major League Soccer or the Japanese J-League, were disadvantaged compared to their colleagues. For example, Pavel Černý and Ivan Hašek , who are active in Japan, scored a total of 108 and 112 first division goals, respectively. Furthermore, there was also a historical disadvantage, since goals outside of Czechoslovakia or the Czech Republic were not recognized at all before 1991. Dealing with Slovak players was also problematic. The goals during the time of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia were counted, not so the goals in the independent Slovak league during the same period. This problem was corrected at the end of 2016.
