Ivan Hašek senior (born September 6, 1963 in Městec Králové ) is a former Czechoslovak or Czech football player and current coach .

Player career

The former Czechoslovak national player and Czech national player began his career at ZOM Nymburk. Sparta Prague signed him for the 1977/78 season . In 1990 he moved to Racing Strasbourg .

Hašek went to Japan in 1994 , first he played one season with Sanfrecce Hiroshima , then one year for JEF United Ichihara Chiba . He then went back to Sparta Prague, where he ended his career in autumn 1997. With Sparta he became champion eight times. In 1987 and 1988 he was Czechoslovak footballer of the year . He took part in the 1990 World Cup in Italy as captain of Czechoslovakia, which he led to the quarter-finals.

Ivan Hašek played 222 games in the 1st Czechoslovak League and scored 58 goals. He played 18 times in the 1st Czech league and scored five goals.

For Czechoslovakia , he completed 55 international matches and scored five goals. In 1994 he played once for the Czech Republic .

Trainer and functionary career

In 1997 he worked as a sports director at Sparta Prague . In 1999/00 he took over as coach there. With the team he won two championship titles. From 1998 to 2001 he was also an assistant coach for the Czech national team . In 1999, Hašek was also general secretary of the Czech football association ČMFS . In 2001 he became a coach at Racing Strasbourg , with whom he was promoted to Ligue 1 . In 2004 he was a coach at the Japanese club Vissel Kobe .

In 2005 he ran unsuccessfully for the chairmanship of the Czech Football Association. In the 2006/07 season Hašek took over the coaching position at the traditional French club AS Saint-Étienne . In December 2007 he became a coach at Al-Ahli in the United Arab Emirates .

Hašek was elected chairman of the Czech Football Association ČMFS on June 27, 2009. On July 7, 2009, he took over as the successor to František Straka as coach of the Czech national team, which he held until the end of the 2010 World Cup qualification . After missing the qualification, he resigned from coaching in order to concentrate fully on his office as association president. In June 2011, he gave up his presidency to return to his former club Al-Ahli as a coach. On January 23, 2012 he replaced Thomas Doll as coach at Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, where his contract was not extended after five months.

Private

Ivan Hašek is married and has two sons, Ivan and Pavel , who both became football professionals. He studied at the Law Faculty of Charles University in Prague and graduated with the title JUDr. from.
