Petr Rada (born August 21, 1958 in Prague ) is a former Czech football player and current football coach .
Player career
Rada played for Dukla Prague from 1979 to 1988 , after which he moved to Fortuna Düsseldorf . In 1990/91 he played for Rot-Weiss Essen , but returned to Dukla Prague in February 1991.
In May 1991 he moved to Toronto Blizzard for a year . In 1992 he played for half a year for SSV Jahn Regensburg , then one year for Chmel Blšany . In 1993 he returned to Fortuna in Düsseldorf and stayed for two years. After the 1995/96 season in which he played for Bohemians Prague , Rada ended his career.
For the Czechoslovak national soccer team Rada made eleven games in which he scored two goals.
Coaching career
Rada's coaching career began in 1996/97 as an assistant at Fortuna Düsseldorf. In 1997/98 he worked in this position at Slavia Prague . From the 25th matchday to the end of the season he was head coach, but returned to the second line for the new 1998/99 season. At the same time he was also working as an assistant for the Czech national team .
In 2000/01 he got his first real chance as the main coach at FK Teplice , but was dismissed after the 19th match day when the team was in 4th place. 2001/02 he trained Viktoria Pilsen . On the 12th day of the 2003/04 season he took over FK Jablonec . In 2006/07 he also became assistant to national coach Karel Brückner . In the 2007/08 season Rada was again at FK Teplice as head coach.
On July 17, 2008, the Czech Football Association appointed Rada as the new coach of the senior national team. Rada thus succeeded Karel Brückner, who no longer extended his contract after the 2008 European Championship . On April 8, 2009, he was released after poor results in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup .
