Ocean Drive
The Ocean Drive is a street in South Beach , the southern part of Miami Beach , USA . Ocean Drive is known for its many Art Deco hotels, as the street is in the heart of the Art Deco District , which is home to 800 well-preserved buildings. The Streamline Modern style evolved from the Art Deco style and essentially dominates Ocean Drive.
The section between 5th and 14th Street is particularly well known. Here is Lummus Park on the east side of Ocean Drive, which merges into the sandy beach of Miami Beach.
On July 15, 1997, the well-known fashion designer Gianni Versace was shot on the stairs in front of his villa “Casa Casuarina” on 1116 Ocean Drive when he came back from a newspaper shopping trip.
