Jaroslav Šilhavý (born November 3, 1961 in Pilsen ) is a former Czech football player and today's coach . With 465 appearances, he is the record holder of the Czechoslovak and Czech leagues. Šilhavý has been the head coach of the Czech national team since September 2018 .
Player career
In his youth, Šilhavý played for TJ Chotěšov, ČSAD Pilsen and Škoda Pilsen . At the age of 18, the defender moved to RH Cheb to do his military service there, but remained loyal to the club for another eight years, during which he played 243 league games and made a name for himself as a reliable defender.
In 1990 he moved to Slavia Prague , from 1994 to 1996 he played for Petra Drnovice . His last position was from 1997 to 2000 Viktoria Žižkov . At the age of 38, Šilhavý ended his career.
Coaching career
Šilhavý began his coaching career as an assistant to Viktoria Žižkov. In 2003 he switched to Sparta Prague as an assistant coach and also took on the post of assistant to the Czech national team . In the 2006/07 season was Šilhavý coach of the B-team Sparta, in July 2007 he was head coach at SK Kladno . He led the team to relegation. For the 2008/09 season, Šilhavý is the coach of Viktoria Plzen . Until April 2009, Šilhavý worked again as an assistant coach for the Czech national team, in October 2009 he replaced Pavel Tobiáš at SK Dynamo České Budějovice .
On September 18, 2018, Šilhavý took over as coach of the Czech national team . He succeeds Karel Jarolím , who was sacked after a 5-1 defeat in a friendly against Russia a week earlier.
