Karel Jarolím (born August 23, 1956 in Čáslav , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech football player and current football coach .
Player career
Karel Jarolím played for Třemošnice in his youth . In 1971 he moved to VCHZ Pardubice . There he came to his first assignments in the men's area. In 1977 the midfielder was signed by Slavia Prague. From 1978 to 1980 he did his military service with Dukla Prague and Dukla Tábor and then returned to Slavia. From 1982 to 1987 Jarolím completed 13 games for the Czechoslovak national team .
In 1987 Jarolím went to France and played three years in the second division for FC Rouen . He spent the 1990/91 season at Amiens SC even one floor below . He then returned to Czechoslovakia and played again for Slavia Prague. After only one year he changed clubs again and went to Viktoria Žižkov in the 2nd division , but stayed there only half a year. From 1993 to 1994 Jarolím played for the second division club FK Švarc Benešov , in the 1994/95 season for FC Bohemians Prague . He ended his active career after the 1995/96 season, in which he played for FC Brümmer Česká Lípa .

Coaching career
Jarolím's first coaching station was FC Dukla in the 1997/98 season. From 1999 he worked as an assistant at Slavia Prague, on the 14th day of the 2000/01 season he replaced František Cipro as head coach. In summer 2001 he accepted the offer to work as an assistant coach at Racing Strasbourg . In August 2003 he was hired by the Czech first division club 1.FC SYNOT as the main coach. In 2004/05 he led the club, which has since been renamed 1. FC Slovácko, despite a twelve point deduction to keep the club. In summer 2005 he returned to Slavia Prague. On March 30, 2010 Jarolím resigned as coach of Slavia Prague before he was brought back again for the 2010/11 season. After an unsatisfactory start to the season, Jarolím resigned from his position at the end of September 2010. In mid-October, the Czech signed a contract until June 2012 with the traditional Slovak club ŠK Slovan Bratislava . In August 2011 Jarolím became the coach of Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia . There he reached the runner- up in the 2011/12 season. In April 2013 he left the club and a few months later joined al-Wahda in the United Arab Emirates. However, he was released in November 2013.
At the beginning of 2014, FK Mladá Boleslav signed him as the successor to Ladislav Minar . In the 2013/14 season he led his team to third place and thus to qualification for the Europa League . In the following season he was able to repeat this with his team as well as in the 2015/16 season .
On August 1, 2016, Jarolím terminated his contract in Mladá Boleslav and took over the post of head coach of the Czech national team . In the subsequent qualification for the 2018 World Cup in Russia , the Czech Republic missed participation in the final round as third in the group . Jarolím was sacked after losing a friendly against Russia on September 10, 2018 5-1 .
