The SK Benešov is a Czech football club from the Central Bohemian town of Benešov . It was founded in 1913 as AFK Benešov . As FK Švarc Benešov , the club played in the top Czech league in 1994/95.

Club history

In July 1913 a football club was founded in Benešov under the name AFK Benešov . This club only played championship games from 1929, shortly afterwards it renamed itself Benešovský SK .

The club achieved its first notable success in 1939 when it was promoted to the then fourth class I. B třída . Three years later the next promotion to I. A třída succeeded, in 1947 the BSK even rose to the Divize, at that time the second highest Czechoslovak league. The division comprised five groups with 12, 15 and 16 teams each, Benešov was clearly last in the Central Bohemia group with only nine points and disappeared for decades in the lowlands of Czechoslovak amateur football.

After some renaming at the end of the 1940s and the beginning of the 1950s, the state-owned vehicle transport company ČSAD ( Československá státní automobilová doprava ) took over the patronage of the club in 1971 , and the football team of its football team grew rapidly from that point on. This was followed by promotion to the 5th division in 1973, two years later the team from Benešov was already fourth class. In the course of a reorganization, ČSAD Benešov made the leap into the now three-part 2nd division. There the team ended up mostly in the lower midfield of the table. In the 1980/81 season a 13th place was not enough for relegation because the 2nd division was reduced to two groups. Two years later, ČSAD Benešov fell into the fourth division, and in 1985 he was promoted back to the third division, in which, however, they did not get beyond midfield positions at first.

This changed in 1990 when the building contractor Miroslav Švarc joined the association, which was henceforth called FK Švarc Benešov. Švarc was the first entrepreneur in what was then Czechoslovakia to set up a system of bogus self-employment for his employees , which became known in the country as the Švarc systém . Švarc became the club's patron and supported him with sums of millions.

In the 1990/91 season, the team won their group in the 3rd division and was second class again. In her first second division season in more than a decade, she narrowly escaped relegation, and in the following season she escaped promotion by just three points.

In 2005, a logo on an annex building to the main stand of the stadium in Benešov reminded of the successful period in the mid-1990s

Švarc continued to upgrade and brought in players like Luboš Kozel , Karel Jarolím and Ivo Knoflíček . This time the goal of advancement was achieved. But even then the problems began, Švarc, who was over his head with the expenses for the club, was charged with evading social security contributions for his employees. The team had no chance in the first division, won only three out of thirty games, conceded more than four goals in five matches and was relegated from bottom of the table. Even in the second division, the team could no longer keep up and came last. Švarc, facing a prison sentence, had overdone and could no longer save the sinking ship. In the summer of 1996 the men's team was dissolved, the club was renamed FK Benešov and only the junior division took part in the game.

This unsatisfactory situation lasted until 1999, when the building contractor Jan Sládek became the club's new sponsor. The problem of the missing men's team was solved by relocating the team playing in the 5th division from the nearby village of Pyšely to Benešov and the club renamed SK Benešov to take over their place in the 5th division. Already in the first season the promotion to the 4th league succeeded, which the team could not hold in the 2006/07 season. However, in the following season, the immediate resurgence succeeded. Since then, SK has played in the 4th division.
