Pyšely (German Pischel ) is a city in the Czech Republic . It is located eleven kilometers north of Benešov and belongs to the Okres Benešov .

geography

Pyšely is located on the right side of the Sázava Valley in the north of the Central Bohemian Uplands . The town lies on the southern slope of a 419 m high hill crowned by a Loreta chapel above the valley basin of the Pyšelský potok. To the east of the city, the European route 55 / State road 3 runs between Benešov and the D 1 motorway .

Neighboring towns are Dub and Zaječice in the north, Nová Ves and Pětihosty in the north-east, Čtyřkoly in the east, Vysoká Lhota in the south-east, Borová Lhota, Městečko and Nové Městečko in the south, Nespeky in the south-west, Papírna, Řřivá and Veshele in the west as well as Dubé Městečko in the north-west.

history

Pyšely originated in the 11th or 12th century. The place was first mentioned in 1295 as the property of Přebor von Pyšel. Later the place belonged to the royal council and chief judge Karl Mratsch von Dauba . In 1680 the church school was founded.

At the beginning of the 18th century, Count Franz Anton Halleweil owned Pyšely, at whose request Emperor Leopold I raised the town to a market town in 1703. The Loretto Chapel was built under the Count Halleweil. The next owner was Johann Heinrich Graf von Bissingen. After patrimonial was replaced in 1848, Pischel became an independent market town. The responsible district court was in Eule .

In 1937 a museum was set up on the initiative of Arnošt Chvojka. Pyšely has been a town since January 30, 2007.

The town of Pyšely consists of the districts Borová Lhota ( Kiefernlhota ), Kovářovice ( Kowarschowitz ), Nová Ves ( Neudorf ), Pyšely ( Pischel ) and Zaječice ( Sajetschitz ).
