history
Postupice was first mentioned in writing in 1205. In the second half of the 14th century it was the eponymous seat of Messrs Kostka von Postupitz , followers of the Hussites . The village passed through several hands and became a town on August 20, 1711.
In 1717, Franz Adam von Trauttmansdorff founded a paper factory. In 1725 the family had a rococo- style castle built. In 1794, Count Heinrich Franz von Rottenhan founded weaving mills, which brought an economic boom in the following years. In 1868 Postupice was bought by Zdeniek von Sternberg , to whose descendants the place belonged until 1943. From the middle of the 19th century the community belonged to the judicial district of Beneschau .
