history
Jankov was first mentioned in a document in 1352. There was a fortress in Jankov, and a parish church has also been documented since the 14th century. Until the beginning of the 15th century, the place was owned by the noble family of Vlašim. Around 1418 the Talmbergers acquired Jankov and expanded the place. In 1543 Jankov was called a patch.
On March 6, 1645, during the Thirty Years' War east of the place in the terrain between Jankov, Skrýšov, Ratměřice and Nosákov, the battle of Jankau between Swedish and imperial troops took place, in which the Swedes under Lennart Torstensson that of Melchior Graf von Hatzfeldt and Johann Graf defeated imperial rulers led by idols and then ravaged the country.
After his son Wilhelm Franz died in 1702 at the age of 25, Rudolf von Talmberg sold the Jankov estate with the market town of Jankov to Johann Anton Kořenský von Terešov. In the following years the fortress fell into disuse and Kořenský took his seat in Ratměřice Castle. In 1719, his four sons sold the combined estate Ratměřice-Jankov with the castles Jankov and Ratměřice to Jiří Vojický from Nová Ves. In 1785 the demolition of the old fortress began.
In 1869 the village of Jankov had 670 inhabitants, at that time a total of 2076 people lived in the area of today's municipality.
Jankov was named Village of the Year in Středočeský kraj in 2006.
