history

The Neustupov Fortress, which was the seat of the Vladiks of Neostupa, probably originated in the 9th century. The 11th or 12th century is assumed to be the origin of the Neostupov settlement . The first written mention can be found in a document from Duke Friedrich from 1185.

According to the Vladiken von Neostupa u. a. the families of Soběšín, Vidlák of Slavkov and the Kaplirz de Sulewicz became the owners of the place. Kaspar Cappleri de Sulewicz was executed in the Old Town Square in Prague in 1621. In 1654 the imperial chamberlain and privy councilor Franz Eusebius von Pötting acquired the place. He promoted the development of Neustupov. Leopold I raised Neustupow to a market town in 1666 and granted the privilege to use a city coat of arms. In 1681 Karl Ernst Freiherr von Bissingen bought Neustupow. He granted the place the privilege of holding four annual markets. In 1809 the Rombald family bought Neustupov.

After the abolition of patrimonial Neustupov formed a market town in the Selchan district from 1848 . In 1890 Neustupov had 771 inhabitants. In 1892 the Counts of Aichelburg acquired the allodial rule Neustupov with Bořetice. The Aichelburgers earned services to the development of the place and were also popular with the population.

After the Second World War the place came to the Okres Votice. On January 1, 1961, it was dissolved and reclassified to Okres Benešov . 1980 Broumovice and Jiřetice were incorporated. Since October 10, 2006 Neustupov has the status of a Městys.
