history

The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1227. Along the Vltava River, rafting settlements arose in the 16th century.

After the abolition of patrimonial Rabín formed with the districts Loutí and Nedvězí from 1848 a municipality in the Benešov district. In 1921 the name of the village was changed to Rabyně . During the Second World War in 1942 the community was evacuated in order to establish the Beneschau SS military training area . In May 1945 Rabyně was settled again. Between 1949 and 1955 the Slapy water reservoir was built with a surface area of 1162.6 hectares. When the Vltava valley was flooded, the Královská settlement and the Záhoří hotel became extinct. On January 1, 1961, Blaženice was incorporated with Měřín. On July 1, 1974, the municipality was reclassified to Okres Praha-západ , since the beginning of 1996 it has belonged again to Okres Benešov . Today Rabyně is mainly a resort with holiday homes.
