Blažejovice (German Blaschejowitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 15 kilometers northwest of Humpolec and belongs to the Okres Benešov .

geography

Blažejovice is located on the left side of the Želivka valley, which is flooded with the Švihov drinking water dam , at the foot of the Hůrka or Blažejovický vrch (546 m) in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands . To the south lies the valley of Blažejovický potok, which flows into the reservoir in the west. The remains of the Zahrádka castle (monastery hill) and on the opposite bank the church of St. Vitus, which until 1976 stood in the center of Zahrádka , lie above the confluence .

Neighboring towns are Martinice u Dolních Kralovic in the north, Šetějovice and Snět in the north-east, Ježov and Vranice in the south-east, Píšť in the south, Hořice in the south-west, Vítonice in the west and Vraždovy Lhotice in the north-west.

history

Blažejovice originated in the parish of Queen Swatawa , which originally consisted of dense forests , in the course of its settlement by the Vyšehrad collegiate chapter . The first mention of the place took place in the year 1352 in a document of Charles IV. Since 1407 Vítonice is also verifiable.

After the destruction of Vyšehrad by the Hussites , Nikolaus Trčka of Lípa received the parish as a gift in 1436. In 1547 Heinrich Kekulé von Stradonitz bought Blažejovice. Other owners were Štěpán Střela z Rokyc, from 1611 the Vražda von Kunwald then the court chamber. Through its president Heinrich Hovora Berka von Dubá , the village came to Johann Leopold Donatus von Trautson and Falkenstein in 1694 , who also acquired the lordship of Unterkralowitz in 1698 and joined the village there. He was followed in 1766 by Karl Josef von Palm-Gundelfingen and, from 1844, by Prince Wilhelm Vincenz von Auersperg . After the abolition of patrimonial , Blažejovice became independent in 1848.

The school house was built in 1910. In 1945 the goods of the Princes Auersperg were confiscated. The school was closed in 1973 due to insufficient student numbers and now serves as a municipal office. From 1974 the Želivka valley was flooded by the Švihov dam ; at the same time, the Zahrádka area was dissolved and largely flooded.
