Ježov (German Jeschow ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 20 kilometers north of Pelhřimov and belongs to the Okres Pelhřimov .

geography

Ježov is located on the left side of the Želivka valley, which is flooded with the Švihov drinking water dam , on a ridge in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands . To the north lies the Blažejovický potok valley, where the remains of the Zahrádka castle are located above its mouth into the reservoir. The village can only be reached by the road from Hořice . To the south runs the route of the D 1 motorway , which crosses the reservoir at Píšť.

Neighboring towns are Snět in the north, Zahrádka in the north-east, Podivice in the east, Mešnik and Hojanovice in the south-east, Vojslavice in the south, Vranice in the south-west and Blažejovice in the north-west.

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1352.

In June 1972, construction of the Píšť motorway bridge began. From 1974, the Želivka valley was flooded by the Švihov dam , and the Zahrádka area was dissolved and largely flooded.
